Espírito Santo Saúde (‘ESS’) is a principal private healthcare provider in Portugal. The company operates hospitals, out-patient clinics, residential hospitals as well as care of senior care residencies and has been participating in the Public-Private Partnership programmes. The construction and licensing of the Casas da Cidade, senior care residential programme, integrated into the Complexo Integrado de Saúde da Luz site in Lisbon, is now complete, and will start working during the 2nd Quarter 2009. ESS continues to promote its senior care projects which include the Lisbon residence at Casa dos Leões, with 90.0% of all units are now occupied, up from 78.0% in 2007.
